Personalized Learning: Students take ownership of their learning journey through developing individualized learning goals in 1:1 meetings with their teacher-mentors. Teachers develop goals and plans to accelerate learning for each child.

Project-based Science and Social Studies: Students work in small groups on rich and interesting projects, from staffing a carnival to holding a model congress. This approach engages critical thinking and builds collaboration skills.

Blended English and Math: Students practice on i-Ready and other online programs while teachers give small group lessons driven by data on students' different needs. Blended learning provides content at each student's skill level.

Co-Teaching in grade teams: Instead of the traditional one-teacher-per-class model, our teachers work in teams where each teacher has accountability for every student in the grade. Teachers plan lessons and review each child together. Senior teachers mentor junior teachers, so every child has the benefit of a range of talents and experience.

Social and Emotional Development: Our students learn critical life skills such as perseverance, conflict resolution, gratitude and mindfulness. We teach explicit social and emotional development programs such as Restorative Justice, weekly mindfulness coaching, and Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS)

Daily writing:  All our students, including Kindergartners, spend an hour a day writing. Every student will develop fluency in grammar, syntax, prose, non-fiction and poetry writing.

Longer school day: Our in-depth curriculum requires longer class time, as students are learning through hands-on practice and application. As a result, our school day runs from 8:00-4:00 beginning in Kindergarten, with optional aftercare from 4:00-6:00.
Healthy, Family-style meals: Lunch begins with student discussion around a thought-provoking quote of the day.  Students and staff eat together like a family and participate in setup and cleanup.
Computer Coding and Computational Thinking: All students participate in our pioneering computer programming, with daily computer science, engineering, and robotics classes designed to teach fluency in computer coding.  These highly engaging blocks teach students a variety of important skills including logic, narrative, attention to detail, perseverance and collaboration.
