Destiny leads Kindergarten centers where students are doing a brain activator to distinguish letters, words, and sentences.  (And yes, it is super hero day!)

Destiny Tambouris is one of our founding Kindergarten teachers at ChangeMakers Academy. Destiny is in her first year of teaching and is already doing rotating centers and small group differentiated instruction! Her students are engaged and joyful in her classroom.

A coworker recently said about Destiny: "Destiny is one of the most organized and creative teachers I've known. I admire her resourcefulness and creativity. I'm learning a lot from her!"

All about Destiny:
I grew up in Southern California and decided to make my way to Northern California for College. I received my BA in Liberal studies at Pacific Union College in Angwin. I fell in love with the area so I decided to settle here permanently. I met Rachael at the Sonoma State job fair and right away I knew that Caliber is where I needed to be. As a first year teacher, I know how ridiculously blessed I am to have found such a wonderful work environment and supportive work family. Not many can say that they love where they work, but I sure can.

A recent interview with Destiny:
What is your favorite thing about teaching Kinder at CMA?
The amount of growth that I get to see in each student. Some come to you not even knowing how to hold a pencil, and now can read level A, B, and C books!

What was your favorite subject growing up?
I have always enjoyed reading and writing.

Did you always think you were going to become a teacher?
I knew I was going to be a teacher when I asked for a whiteboard for Christmas when I was 9 years old. I strayed away from teaching in College (thought I wanted to do business HA!) and then decided it's the only career that would make me happy.

Favorite candy bar or sweet treat?
Reese's Peanut Butter cups!

If you could go on a dream vacation, what would you do + where would you go?
I love to travel! Ireland and Thailand are definitely on my list of places to visit.

What is your favorite thing about the Bay Area (or specifically about Vallejo!)?
The area is so diverse. And, I love how close we are to SF and to the pretty vineyards in Napa.

What is one fun fact that most people don't know about you?
I won a mini-golf championship on Catalina Island against people from my home church.

This female teacher is looking very sincere in her duty. These kinds of teachers are needed by all the educational institutes who consider teaching as something more than their way of living. They take this profession as their passion and moral obligation.
