Learn more about campus Beautification Day @Caliber: Beta Academy!
A recent interview with Frances Lizarde (Ops Lead): Tell me more about Campus Beautification Day? "So we have been doing this every year and we do it for many reasons. One, to make our campus pretty, to give kids ownership of being proud of the school and to build community with our parents, staff and students. This year we focused a lot on painting murals and making the campus beautiful with color. In the past, we have focused a lot on the garden. Why is it important to have activities like this for the Caliber community? "I think that people tend to respect public property when we put time and effort into it. I think it makes the kids feel proud of their work. Kids tend to show off about their work a lot! One thing I have been doing this year is sending out satisfaction surveys- we send these out to families, about what went well, what needs to change, and if they have suggestions. We get tons of feedback from families. They were really happy about putting more color on our walls! A few kids felt proud that they were able to paint the colors that represent the LGBTQIA community." What is something memorable that happened this day? "The painting part was definitely not for all ages! I had the Girl Scout troop here and it was very community oriented. They are all from the school and they wanted to paint a mural that represented Caliber and the community, but the really young kiddos wanted to jump in and help, we didn't oppose this and it got super messy!!" What is one fun fact that nobody knows about you? "So here at the school site, I am very organized and try to keep things together, but at home...its the complete opposite! I'm very unorganized, you can find piles of laundry everywhere."
