Caliber Expanded Learning Vision

Caliber’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) vision is that all youth experience a range of quality after-school, intersession, and other expanded learning opportunities that promote their intellectual, creative, and healthy development.
 
How do we do this? At Caliber, ELOP offers:

The California State Legislature has allocated ongoing funding designated for expanded learning through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P). In compliance with state guidelines, the Expanded Learning team is required to prioritize unduplicated students for enrollment. These qualifications include TK-6th grade students who are:

  • In TK-6th grade
  • Experiencing homelessness
  • Foster youth
  • English Language Learners
  • Qualify for free/reduced lunch

While we encourage all families to apply, please keep in mind that priority will be given to students who meet these criteria. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to expandedlearning@caliberschools.org.

 

The Expanded Learning team is excited to share that the November Intersession Camp application is now open!  This three-day camp will provide students with a fun and engaging opportunity to dive into S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) activities during the school break.

How To Apply

ELOP is launching a new intersession camp enrollment platform with Attendly! 

  1. Click here to visit the ELOP Attendly homepage 
  2. Sign in by entering your primary email address or phone number that is on record with Caliber. 
  3. Select “Do not know password”. A temporary password will be sent via email/text to sign in.
  4. Select “Programs” on the left menu and select “November Intersession 2026”
  5. Select your student’s name and click the blue “Join” button
  6. Select all required checkboxes and click “Submit”
  7. Repeat the same process for any siblings you’d like to apply for. 

To apply, please complete the application by Friday, October 9th. Any applications submitted after October 9th will be placed on the waitlist. We will provide enrollment updates via email and text by Friday, October 30th at 6:00pm.

At Caliber Public Schools, we’re proud to partner with BACR (Bay Area Community Resources) to provide high-quality After School Program services across our campuses. BACR’s dedicated staff bring energy and care to the program, supporting our students in their academic growth, social-emotional learning, and enrichment opportunities. Together, we create safe, engaging spaces where students can develop the skills to explore new interests and build meaningful relationships beyond the school day.

2026-2027 ASP Enrollment

The 2026-2027 After School Program application is now open for all families. Families who submit an application will be automatically waitlisted and enrolled on a rolling basis as student class size and staff capacity allows. Families must have attended a family orientation session in April or August to be eligible for enrollment, as there will not be another orientation session until Spring 2027. Please note, submitting an application and attending an orientation session does not guarantee enrollment in ASP.

Successful Application Submission 

  • Families applying for multiple children must include all children in the same application. Families with multiple separate applications for siblings will delay their application process and cause delay in priority determination.
  • All information entered into the application must be updated for the 2026-2027 school year. Returning families will need to update all contact information. 
  • After completing the application, please make sure you click submit. Once your application is completed, you will receive an email stating that your application has been received. If you do not receive a confirmation email, your application was not successfully submitted. 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What if I missed the family orientation sessions in April and August? Can I still apply?  

A: Yes, click here to submit an ASP application for the 26-27 school year.  Please note that applications received during this application cycle will be automatically waitlisted and enrolled on a rolling basis as class size and staff capacity allows, and after they attend a mandatory orientation session. If you did not attend a family orientation session in April or August, you will have to wait until the next scheduled orientation, which will not take place until the Spring 2027 semester (exact date TBD). 

Q: I submitted my application and attended a family orientation session. When will I receive an enrollment update?  

A: Families who submitted their application successfully and attended the orientation session on August 27th will automatically be added to the waitlist. Families will only receive a notification when a spot for their student becomes available, as class size and staff capacity allows. 

Q: My ASP Coordinator said my child's grade level cohort is full. When can I expect an update on their waitlist status? 

A:  In ASP, we must adhere to student to staff ratios that remain in compliance with CA Department of Education grants that allow us to offer services at no cost to our families. In order to remain in compliance, we cannot, under any circumstance, enroll additional students when a grade-level cohort is full. Unfortunately, we are unable to predict when space will become available, as it is dependent on if current students on the roster are dropped. 

Q: My application was waitlisted. Can I find out where my student is on the waitlist? 

A: Students will be taken off the waitlist on a rolling basis as class-size capacity and staff-to-student ratios allow.  We will reach out to you via email as soon as a spot opens up for your student, but unfortunately we are unable to provide an exact timeline of when students will be taken off the waitlist. We understand how important this program is to our families and we appreciate your understanding as we strive to serve as many students as we can.

Q: My student is in 7th and/or 8th grade. Will they be considered for enrollment in ASP? 

A: 7th/8th grader siblings of  prioritized TK-6th grade students will be considered for enrollment in ASP, as class capacity allows.

Before School Care will provide students with quality supervision, breakfast, and morning activities each day from 7:30am-8:00am.

Friendly Reminder on Priority Enrollment

7th and 8th Graders
Caliber’s Expanded Learning Programs are funded to serve eligible TK-6 students. In order to remain in compliance with program requirements, we are unable to enroll 7th and 8th grade students, including siblings of enrolled elementary students.
We understand this may create logistical challenges for families with students in both lower and upper school, and we recognize that this arrangement may not work for everyone. If having only your TK-6 student enrolled does not meet your family's needs, you may choose to decline the Before School Care placement. Should you decide not to accept the offered space, please email expandedlearning@caliberschools.org. 
 
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why was my younger child accepted but my older child was not?
Before School Care is funded and authorized to serve eligible students in grades TK-6. Students in grades 7-8 are not eligible for enrollment, regardless of sibling status.
 
Can an exception be made for siblings?

Unfortunately, no. We must follow the program's eligibility requirements to remain in compliance with funding guidelines.

What if this doesn't work for our family?

We understand that this may not meet every family's needs. Families may decline the TK-6 enrollment if they prefer not to have only one child participate.

Q: What if my child does not meet the priority criteria?

A: Caliber’s ELOP programs are in very high demand, therefore, we cannot offer a space for every student who applies. The Expanded Learning team will closely monitor the waitlist and will continue to offer spaces as they become available.

Q: Can I enroll my child who does not qualify for priority enrollment for a fee?

A: No. We are currently not taking any payments for ELOP programs.
